Our philosophy on education is simple: All children deserve a high-quality education that prepares them to succeed in life.  With the needs of students always at the forefront, our education efforts are focused on closing the achievement gap by:

• Developing and rewarding great people, including teachers and school leaders;
• Supporting great schools, regardless of type; and
• Achieving effective advocacy that meets the needs of kids and families. 

Positioning Authentic Assets
Memphis is rich with distinct cultural, historical, physical and human assets that are unique to our city.  We work with innovative community partners to strengthen and showcase Memphis' authentic assets in the areas of:

Strengthening Neighborhoods
Strong neighborhoods, especially a vibrant urban core, are the building blocks for a thriving and competitive city.  We invest in community assets that transform buildings, commerce, landscapes and human lives, and champion efforts to make our downtown a destination to live, work and play.  This comprehensive approach is aimed not only at increasing the vitality of our neighborhoods and improving the lives of those who live and work in Memphis, but also at promoting responsible, collaborative redevelopment and sustainable urban design.
