Porter-Leath leadership and staff, along with supporters of the organization, recently celebrated the opening of the Porter-Leath Preschool at KIPP: Memphis Collegiate Elementary.

Announced in April of this year, the new preschool, which includes five classrooms for 100 students, is a partnership between Porter-Leath and KIPP to bring a high-quality educational experience to children in the North Memphis community.

Funded by donations, families pay no tuition fee but must commit to remain actively involved in their children's education and strive to achieve family goals.

The pilot program focuses on preparing underserved prekindergarten children from low-income families to successfully enter and exit kindergarten.

As Porter-Leath has been operating highly successful preschools as an Early Head Start grantee since 1999 and Head Start delegate agency to Shelby County Head Start since 2000, the preschool will set children up to complete their education, including college, enter the workforce and continue to lead successful lives.
