The Shelby Farms Park Conservancy has announced its first free summer concert series, which will kick off June 30 with the Navy Band Mid-South.
The Summer Fun Concert Series will be on the patio of the park's Visitor Center and will be comprised of four shows featuring regional talent.
Other concerts in the series include the old-timey roots music pastiche of the Bluff City Backsliders on July 19, vaudeville-style folk quartet the Side Street Steppers on July 26, and New Orleans jazz combo Jeremy Shrader & the Hot Memphis Four on Aug. 2.
All concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. and last until sundown. Admission is free, though a suggested $5 donation for parking goes to support the park and the connected Shelby Farms Greenline.
In addition to the music, each event will feature children's activities, including an inflatable water slide, water games and face painting.
The conservancy is also teaming with the newly formed Memphis Food Truck Alliance to bring part of the area's growing fleet of roving restaurants, including Central BBQ, Scratch, MarksGrill, Yolo, Parker's Water Ice, Kona Ice, Tamale Trolley, and Family Plot, to the shows.
