The Memphis Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2011-2012 season – the second under the leadership of music director Mei-Ann Chen.

The season will bring guest violinist Gil Shaham and pianists Adrienne Park, Jura Margulis and Lilya Zilberstein for performances in the First Tennessee Masterworks Series of concerts.

The MSO Pops Series will present five concerts, including “Classical Mystery Tour: A Tribute to the Beatles.” Additionally, the MSO will continue its Friday night series, the Paul and Linnea Bert Classic Accents concerts, in performances at Wiener Theater on the campus of Hutchison School.

And in collaboration with Playhouse on the Square, the MSO will present “Every Good Boy Deserves Favour,” Tom Stoppard’s dark comedy about Soviet dissidents.

The Masterworks concerts, which open Sept. 17 and 18, will be held on Saturday nights at the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts, 255 N. Main St., usually followed on Sunday at the Germantown Performing Arts Centre, 1801 Exeter Road.
