Green up your life

The Commercial Appeal -

On Saturday, January 1, 2011, the Wolf River Conservancy will host a "First Float" canoe trip. All interested paddlers should be registered by 5 p.m. WRC board member Dale Sanders will lead the trip.

The group will paddle from the Bateman Road bridge to Moscow, Tenn. This is a 6-mile trip through some of the most beautiful narrow water trails on the Wolf. But paddling in cold weather is not for everyone, so for safety reasons, trips scheduled during the colder winter months are for experienced paddlers only; a capsize could have serious consequences.

All WRC members are welcome. The first Saturday trips are free, offered as a WRC membership benefit. Bluff City Canoe Club members are also welcome and may be requested to help. To register for this trip, contact Dale Sanders at 628-8686 or fdales@aol.com.

To become a member, contact the WRC Office Manager, Kimberly Thomas, at (901) 452-6500 or officemanager@wolfriver.org after Jan. 2, or visit wolfriver.org to download a membership form.
