HYDE FAMILY FOUNDATIONS WEBSITE SPOTLIGHTS MEMPHIS' BEST

It’s an exciting time in Memphis and civic innovators are leading the way.

Once again, we’re featuring three of these innovative organizations in our “partner spotlights” along with our emerging leader profile.  They are the kinds of civic entrepreneurs that are making such a big difference and creating the can-do attitude that is moving our city ahead.

Our emerging leader is Mei-Ann Chen, new music director for the Memphis Symphony Orchestra.  Her infectious personality permeates her conducting style and her work in the community.  Recognized as one of the nation’s rising stars, she’s bringing new vibrancy and surprises to the orchestra.

The contributions being made by Teach for America are underscored again as one of its alumni establishes Memphis College Preparatory Elementary.    The school’s no-excuses environment, its data-driven approaches, and its belief that every child can achieve flow directly from the principles of Teach for America.

In only a few years, GrowMemphis has increased the number of community gardens to 15, and the number continues to climb.  The organization is based on the principles of food justice -- everyone should have access to enough food and the right kinds of food for healthy lifestyles.

Dixon Gallery and Gardens is bringing new relevancy and renewed regional connections to its work.  It is originating stunning exhibits that are being taken on the road after their Memphis debut, and the gallery is preparing the biggest exhibit in its history: a retrospective of French artist Jean-Louis Forain.

The Hyde Family Foundations are proud to support the important work of these organizations and prouder still to spread the word about their successes.
